    World Nursery Rhyme Week

15 November 2021 (by Daryl Spencer (darylspencer))

    15-19th November

Nursery rhymes are an important part of child development and shared culture.

Rhymes teach young children to count, to pronounce words they might otherwise never use and to develop awareness of rhythm and rhyme. They often have a little bit of history behind them too!

This week is World Nursery Rhyme Week and children have been set a challenge to turn a rhyme into a piece of artwork.

They might draw Jack and Jill climbing THAT hill, or Humpty, having a big fall - or Incey Wincey climbing a spout... or 3 blind mice... a cat with a fiddle.... a twinkling star.... or a piggy staying home... you get the idea!

Pictures should include part (or all) of the rhyme too.

We'll put their work on display all around the school.

For inspiration, the link below takes you to a page FULL of rhymes, sorted alphabetically.
