School Day

Our standard school day for pupils in Reception to Year 6 is 8:55am to 15:25pm.

This makes a school day 6.5 hours and a school week 32.5 hours.

Pupils have a 20 minute break each morning, and an hour for lunch.

Wraparound care extends the school day before and after school.

Staff are scheduled to supervise children for ten minutes before and after the school day.

Pupils who arrive earlier than 8:45 or are uncollected by 15:35 will be placed in wraparound care and charges applied.

Interesting fact: a calendar year is 365 days, or 8760 hours.

Of those, pupils who attend every day will be at school for 6.5 hours a day for 190 days - or 1235 hours.

That equates to just 14.1% of a calendar year spent at school!

Taking off breaks and lunches means that just 10.8% of their year is spent in classroom learning.

By contrast, if children sleep for 9 hours a day, they spend 37.5% of their year in bed...
