Admissions Policy Consultation
As a foundation school, the governors of Fir Ends School are the admissions authority.
As our own admissions authority, we are required under the School Admissions Code 2021 to review our admissions policies annually and to consult on our arrangements from time to time. The code requires consultation in the following circumstances:
- When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements (including any supplementary information form) that will apply for admission applications the following school year.
- Where the admission arrangements have not changed from the previous year there is no requirement to consult, subject to the requirement that admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.
To provide comment or response to any of the documents or information here, please email clerk@fir-ends.cumbria.sch.uk
CONSULTATION ON ADMISSIONS ARRANGEMENTS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2026/27
In line with the requirement to consult every seven years as a minimum, Fir Ends School will begin a consultation on its admissions policy for the academic year 2026/27 during the Autumn term 2024.
The existing policy for 2025/26 can be found here.
The Governors have considered future demand for school places on the basis of published local birth numbers and those in the surrounding area and have agreed that at this stage they do not propose to make any changes to the admissions policy with regard to PAN or admissions criteria.
Minor changes to wording to add clarity may be proposed.
The formal consultation will be published on this page to begin no later than 18th December and will run for six weeks.
Following the consultation closure date, the governors will consider any comments received.
If no comments are received, the policy will be recommended for adoption at the following meeting of the Governing Body.
